D oes shaving everyday damage my skin? I can only say that if you are not properly using shaving products [pre-shave and post-shave], it can damage the skin on your face. Okay, there is nothing like a close shave every morning. While you can simply use a drug store shaving cream, you may get more than you bargained for. Not using an aftershave or facial lotion, your skin can get dried out as well as advance the signs for premature aging. In my opinion, my face is often dried out every time I shave. Using high quality shaving products can actually make your skin feel much softer, looks healthier. As a result, my skin looks and feels moisturized.

What can I do to prevent my skin from drying out after shaving
Remember, using the correct products [pre-shave and post-shave], you can eliminate the dryness on your skin. Before we can “discuss” about which products I use during my grooming regimen, let’s talk about pre-shave and post-shave. A pre-shave can depend on your definition of pre-shave preparation. It can be anything from washing your face with lukewarm water to a long boring routine. As for myself, I wash my face really well with a good facial scrub to exfoliate dead skin cells. Then, I lather on shaving gel and shave. You always want to wash away the dirt, oil or debris before running a razor over your face. Having a clean face can allow your razor to glide smoothly down your face without getting irritation as well as possible ingrown hairs. Always remember to glide over your razor with the least amount of resistance possible.
You should always invest on high quality shaving cream when it comes to your personal shaving regimen. You probably should not buy a cheap, generic shaving cream from a dollar store to shave. Remember, not all shaving creams created equal. Using a high quality shaving cream or later has potential benefits on your skin. First, your blade is easy to glide over your face. This makes shaving more enjoyable as well as giving you an extremely close shave. While shaving, your skin is being moisturized and fight the effects of drying and premature aging.
The next step in your daily shaving routine should be moisturized after you shave. I usually use an aftershave right after I finish shaving. An aftershave should provide your skin with instant moisture as well as close the pores of your skin. This can help your skin with irritation from the dreaded razor burn. By using an aftershave, you can give your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated.
The last step is to incorporate a high-quality lotion into your daily regimen. If your daily shaving routine is in the morning, then I would suggest you to buy a high-quality face lotion with SPF at least 15. Using SPF 15 or above can give you broad-spectrum protection. A harmful radical from the sun can cause premature aging as well as increase your chance of getting cancer.
Remember these vital steps and your skin will be on its way to become healthier for years to come.
If you are going to the beach, exercise, or anything has to do with water and outside, you should get the “Water-Resistant” sunscreen.
You should always approximate at least a full ounce of sunscreen to apply on your body. About 1 teaspoon to apply on your face each time you apply.
Remember, NOT all sunscreens created equal. Always do research before you buy. Do not let a cloudy day fool you. Always protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays using the right sunscreen products.
